Tāpoi te Moananui ā Toi | Tourism Bay of Plenty is a not-for-profit organisation that takes the lead role in managing the Coastal Bay of Plenty as a thriving tourism destination and growing the region’s visitor economy in a sustainable, and ultimately regenerative way.

VACANCY: Brand Development Manager (Fixed Term - 24 months)

About the role 

We’re looking for a dynamic Brand Development Manager to guide a strategic process that consults, crafts and develops a distinctive narrative and visual identity for a Tauranga Destination Brand. This 24-month fixed-term contract demands skilful project management, stakeholder management and engagement, and expertise in place branding.

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the project, including councils, businesses, mana whenua, community organisations, and other key partners.Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the project, including councils, businesses, mana whenua, community organisations, and other key partners.

  • Project Management: Oversee the project from start to finish, managing timelines, budgets, and resources.

  • Place Brand Strategy: Develop a compelling brand strategy that appeals to the audience and aligns with the vision of stakeholders.

  • RFP and Agency Management: Handle the procurement process, from evaluating proposals to selecting and managing the branding agency.

  • Visual Identity Development: Collaborate with the chosen agency to transform the brand strategy into an engaging visual identity.

  • Brand Implementation: Develop brand toolkit and provide guidelines and sound advice to external parties for consistent implementation across various channels and touch points.

Background required:  

  • Experience in brand management, with a focus on place branding and destination marketing.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and creative storytelling skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.

  • Experience drafting RFP documents and evaluating vendor proposals.

  • Strong project management capabilities.

  • Experience engaging with mana whenua.
