Tauranga City Centre Te Papa Walking Tour
Tauranga City Centre has so much history and culture to offer discerning travellers. Join this 3 hour hīkoi (walk) that touches on historical settlement in the area and the impact on Tauranga today.
You will be expertly led by your local Māori guide who will tell you stories of cultural conflict and unity. By standing on ancient pā sites (fortified Māori villages), walking through the urupā (burial grounds), exploring the mission station, standing amongst the pou whenua (Māori carved poles) you will be transported back in time to understand not just Tauranga, but Aotearoa (New Zealand) also. Your guide will transport you through the years of land conflicts and settlement to what you see today. A truly revealing and informative chapter in our history.
