KAIATE FALLS

Walk through the forest to Kaiate Falls, where water tumbles down a ravine in a series of cascades to a spectacular fall and pool at the end of the walk.

Kaiate Falls (also known as Te Rerekawau Falls) is a 30-minute drive from Tauranga. The walking tracks are well-maintained steps, although quite steep in some places.

The main track leads to the top where you'll get a view of Mauao, and then to the base of the upper series of falls before continuing downhill to the lower falls. Another track, just below the car park, follows the stream back to the road bridge. Track junctions are well sign-posted.

Kaiate Falls is a beautiful spot to experience the sights and sounds of native forest on those hot summer days. And after extensive rainfall across the region, the falls come alive with a roaring energy and are a spectacle to behold.

The Falls are an ideal setting for explorers young and old.

Please take note of water quality and safety signage.
