Lime e-scooters

Lime e-scooters have arrived in the Bay! Leave the car parked up and whip around central Tauranga or Mount Maunganui on one of these portable e-scooters. Just download the app and you'll see where the scooters are located.

While Lime scooters are lots of fun, please remember to ride responsibly, be aware of other road and footpath users, and park up in a sensible spot. Keep safe!

Buses

Going by bus is a great option for getting around the Bay. In Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Pāpāmoa and Whakatāne, the service is Baybus. Check out their website or drop into the Tauranga i-SITE at 103 The Strand for help with booking.

Electric Vehicle charging stations

Bayfair Shopping Centre: On the corner of Maunganui Road and Girven Road in Mount Maunganui is Bayfair Shopping Centre. You'll find charging stations in the undercover parking at the entrance to the mall, and outside the Amazon store at the back of the mall.

The Strand (southern end), Tauranga: Two AC chargers. This site is New Zealand’s first dedicated solar-fed electric vehicle charge site and is free to use (currently funded by Trustpower) – bring your own cable.

Tauranga Crossing Shopping Centre, The Lakes: Four free AC chargers located outside Look Sharp.

Waihī Beach Top 10 Holiday Resort: Powered sites with EV Charger are available at this popular camping ground.

Kubat Taxis

Established in 2016, Kubat offers a full hybrid fleet of taxis. The service currently operates in Tauranga, but is looking to expand to Whakatāne by the end of 2020.
