Art & Museums
Throughout Katikati you'll see large outdoor murals telling the town's stories. Take a guided tour with Katikati Open Air Art and let the dedicated guides walk you through this unique experience.
Call into The Arts Junction and check out the locally made artisan gifts, the Junction Theatre and the Carlton Gallery. This is also where you’ll find the Visitor Information Centre so a stop here and chat with the local experts is highly recommended.
Just next door is the Western Bay Museum, a boutique stop with big stories to tell. The museum changes its exhibits regularly and focuses on the historic, cultural and artistic stories of the area. There is also a permanent exhibition of Taonga Māori on display.

Avocados: yes, please!
Katikati is the home of avocados. On your way home, call into The Big Avocado on Main Road and pick up some fresh, local avos and if you’re craving the taste of Western Bay avocados once you’ve gone home, you can order them direct to your door from The Avo Tree based in Katikati.
The town also serves up the Katikati Avocado Food & Wine Festival and the next one is Saturday, 9 January 2021. There will be live music, food stalls, wine, cooking demonstrations and, of course, avocados. This festival is motorhome friendly.
