The Sovereign New Zealand Ocean Swim Series returns this summer with six events around New Zealand, including the Sand to Surf at Mt Maunganui on Saturday 27 March 2010.
The Sovereign New Zealand Ocean Swim Series also includes events in Auckland, Bay of Islands, Wellington, Christchurch, and North Shore City, and presents challenges which are attainable for people of all shapes, sizes and abilities. The Sovereign Sand to Surf includes a variety of distances – 300m Tag Team Relay, 750m distance or 2.8km challenge and the 200m Sovereign OceanKids for children under 10 years.
For five days over Easter, Tauranga swings with the vibrant sounds of the National Jazz Festival one of the oldest Jazz Festivals in the world. Each year thousands of visitors congregate in the friendly atmosphere of Bay of Plenty's beautiful seaside setting for the jazz party of the year.

This is a rare opportunity to travel from Tauranga/Mount Maunganui to Paekakariki on the Kapiti Coast by rail. The journey includes travelling through the Kaimai Tunnel, the longest in the Southern Hemisphere, across the many impressive viaducts on the NIMT, plus the climb up the world famous Raurimu Spiral behind a steam locomotive.
Tuesday 6th April Tauranga & Hamilton to Taumarunui
Departing from Mount Maunganui 08.10am (Hull Road opposite New World) we will pick up passengers at The Strand in central Tauranga. The sector through the Kaimai Tunnel to Hamilton will be diesel hauled. After a service stop at Hamilton Ja1271 will head the train from Hamilton onto Taumarunui.
Overnight Taumarunui. Accommodation can be arranged.
Wednesday 7th April Taumarunui to Paekakariki
A full day on the NIMT including the climb up the Raurimu Spiral, mountain views and high viaducts.
The rail journey is on a ONE way basis.
